Masindi, Uganda – Kitara FC showcased an extraordinary performance, demolishing Express FC 7-0 on Saturday at the Royal Park in Butema. The emphatic win marks the club’s biggest victory in Uganda’s top-flight football.

Ssenkaaba Steals the Show

Former Express forward George Ssenkaaba was the match’s undisputed star, delivering a stunning hat-trick against his former club. Jude Ssemugabi contributed two goals, while Fred Amaku and David Ndihabwe completed the rout in what will be remembered as a historic day for Kitara FC.

Ssenkaaba’s clinical finishing not only thrilled fans but also underlined the quality gap between the two sides. Despite his spectacular performance, Ssenkaaba chose not to celebrate out of respect for his former club.

Express FC’s Struggles

Express FC’s preparation for the match was far from ideal. Several key players, including Ronald Andabati, Mafumu Dauson, Wasswa Emmanuel, Rashid Kawawa, and Geofrey Gagganga, were unavailable due to injuries, illness, or other commitments.

Unconfirmed reports suggested that logistical issues and delayed salary payments further disrupted the team. Express players reportedly arrived in Hoima early Saturday morning after a late Friday night journey.

League Implications

The win elevates Kitara FC to ninth place in the league table with 17 points. Meanwhile, Express FC remains in sixth with 19 points, just two points ahead of Kitara. Their position in the top six is now at risk following back-to-back losses, including a 2-1 defeat to URA last week.

Upcoming Fixtures

Kitara FC will visit Wakiso Giants on January 5 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, while Express FC aims to bounce back when they host Bright Stars on January 2 at the revamped Hamz Stadium in Nakivubo.
