Opposition Chief Whip John Nambeshe expressed disappointment, stating that the stadium works are non-compliant and haven’t received approval. Despite earlier assurances from Sports Minister Peter Ogwang, it’s now clear that Namboole won’t be able to host the games. Shadow Minister of Sport Geofrey Kayemba Solo reiterated this stance.
This development contradicts Ogwang’s previous promises and adds to the series of delays in Namboole’s reopening. Consequently, Uganda might have to seek alternative venues for their World Cup qualifiers, continuing the trend of hosting international matches abroad over the past year.
