Tournament Highlights

As part of the anniversary celebrations, the Buganda Kingdom has organized a comprehensive golf championship at the par-72 Uganda Golf Club. This year, professionals, caddies, and families will be fully engaged in the event.

The professional tournament will take place over two days, 25th and 26th July 2024, covering 36 holes. At stake is the coveted Kabaka Green Jacket and a total prize of Ug.Shs 13,000,000. This information was confirmed during a press briefing held at Bulange, Mengo, where Buganda Kingdom Minister of Sports, Youth, and the Arts, Owek. Ssalongo Robert Sserwanga, outlined the event’s organization.

Professional Golfers in Action

The tournament provides an excellent opportunity for professional golfers to sharpen their skills ahead of upcoming championships like the Uganda Open at Entebbe Club. Expected participants include seasoned golfers such as Deo Akope, Becca Mwanja, and Deco Mutebi, among others.

Pre-Tournament Activities

Before the professionals compete, the tournament will feature events for parents and children on Sunday, 21st July 2024, and for caddies on Monday, 22nd July 2024. The series will conclude on Saturday, 27th July 2024, with a competition featuring amateur golfers.

Organizing Committee

The organizing committee is led by Sam Lugonvu Mubiru, Captain of the Buganda Golfers Association (BUGA), and includes:

  • Emmanuel Wamala (Former Captain, Uganda Golf Club)
  • Evah Magala (Female Professional Golfer)
  • Gertrude Kityo (Female Golfer)
