Alice Owenjuye Opondo, mother of Uganda Media Centre Executive Director Ofwono Opondo, passed away at 2:30 A.M. at Mukono General Hospital, as announced by Opondo on Monday, April 6.
Opondo, who also serves as the government spokesperson, refrained from disclosing the cause of his mother’s demise.
Following the announcement, numerous Ugandans expressed condolences on social media platforms.
Former Vision Group Chief Executive Officer, and former head of the Uganda Media Centre, conveyed his condolences, stating: “Comrade @OfwonoOpondo heartfelt condolences.”
Others, like Nats and Eng. Dr. Kenneth Muniina, extended sympathies, expressing sorrow and offering prayers for the departed soul.
Jude Bwogi acknowledged the grace of having Alice Opondo until that moment and thanked God for her life and contributions to the nation.
