FINCA Uganda has stepped up its endeavors to uplift the livelihoods of small-scale entrepreneurs and cooperatives by offering a diverse range of support services aimed at steering them towards self-sufficiency.

Augmenting its microfinance services, FINCA Uganda has introduced financial education, technical assistance, and employment diversification initiatives. Recognizing Uganda as a hub of microfinance innovation, FINCA is presently piloting various novel concepts nationwide. One such endeavor integrates financial education, vocational training, and the establishment of Early Childhood Development centers to bolster refugee communities and native Ugandans alike.

The recent expansion of FINCA Uganda’s outreach underscores its commitment to reaching some of Uganda’s most marginalized communities, including refugees. While microfinance remains central to FINCA’s mission, this broader strategy reaffirms its dedication to serving individuals at the base of the economic pyramid.

Since its inception in 1984, FINCA has prioritized empowering women to attain financial autonomy and forge prosperous futures for themselves and their families. Through tailored financial products and literacy programs, FINCA has aided over 530,000 individuals and their families in Uganda alone, boasting a customer base of 150,000, nearly half of whom are women.

In pursuit of gender equality, FINCA continues to roll out targeted initiatives and programs tailored to the distinctive needs and hurdles confronted by women entrepreneurs. By expanding its reach and bolstering its offerings, FINCA endeavors to foster sustainable economic growth and enable women to carve out brighter prospects for themselves and their communities.

“We envision Uganda as the epicenter for shaping the future of microfinance and challenging traditional paradigms,” remarked FINCA International President Andree Simon during a press briefing at the FINCA Uganda Head Office. “While microfinance serves as a crucial springboard for small entrepreneurs, its impact can be amplified manifold through supplementary support mechanisms.”

Drawing insights from customer feedback, FINCA Uganda tailors its product development to ensure an exceptional customer experience. Additionally, the institution has heavily invested in technology to enhance accessibility and convenience for its clientele.

By extending credit access to refugees, women, and rural populations engaged in agriculture, and coupling it with ancillary support services, FINCA is fortifying its capacity to uplift underserved communities. With this expanded approach, FINCA Uganda stands poised to make an even more profound impact on the lives of small-scale entrepreneurs and cooperatives, fostering sustainable economic growth and self-reliance for future generations.
