Taking a swipe at newly appointed Liverpool manager Arne Slot, Manchester United’s Erik ten Hag suggests that there’s been an exaggeration regarding the achievements of Slot’s Feyenoord team.
Slot’s appointment came following Jurgen Klopp’s departure from Liverpool after a nine-year tenure. This vacancy allowed Slot, who had been successful with Feyenoord in the Netherlands, particularly winning the league title in 2022-23, to step into the role at Anfield after passing through Liverpool’s selection process.
However, Ten Hag isn’t buying into the hype surrounding Slot’s managerial prowess. He argues that Feyenoord, under Slot, hasn’t been as exceptional as some make it out to be.
“People have been overly enthusiastic about Feyenoord,” remarked the Man United manager, as reported by Voetbal International. “While they’ve been solid, they haven’t reached the top tier. PSV Eindhoven has shown superiority in various aspects such as ball possession, pressure, and intensity.”
This season, PSV, under Peter Bosz’s guidance, clinched the league title, earning Ten Hag’s praise for their outstanding performance.
“Bosz and his team have been exemplary,” Ten Hag commended. “PSV’s overall setup, from coaching staff to club structure, is commendable. They’ve outshone the competition, including Feyenoord, by a significant margin.”
