Mama D Aims to Reclaim Cooking World Record Title

In her latest culinary endeavor, Ugandan chef Dorcus Basheba Kirabo, also known affectionately as Mama D, is embarking on a determined quest to reclaim her Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. Previously holding the title with an impressive 114 hours of continuous cooking, Mama D’s record was surpassed by a chef from Ghana who astonishingly cooked for 227 hours.

Undeterred by this setback, Mama D is now setting her sights on a new milestone. Beginning on June 1 and spanning seven days until June 8, 2024, she aims to cook for a staggering 192 hours straight, showcasing her culinary prowess and unwavering determination.

The ambitious endeavor kicked off over the weekend, with Mama D already clocking in over 24 hours of continuous cooking by Sunday morning. Amidst cheers from supportive fans gathered at the High Note Bar in Kireka, Mama D served up an array of delectable dishes, demonstrating her passion for both food and breaking records.

Expressing her enthusiasm for the challenge, Mama D took to social media to rally support, inviting people to join her in this culinary feat. Her infectious spirit and dedication to her craft are evident as she eagerly embarks on this marathon cooking journey.

This isn’t Mama D’s first attempt at reclaiming her title. In a previous cookathon in Kampala, she seized the world record with her 114-hour feat. However, her reign was short-lived, as her record was later surpassed by a chef from Ghana.
