Fildausi Namulema, a dynamic center and wing attacker, was instrumental in leading the National Insurance Corporation (NIC) netball team to victory at the 2024 East African Netball Championship in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania.
In recognition of her exceptional performance, Namulema received the Fortebet Real Stars Award for May 2024. At the same championship, she was also honored as the most valuable player (MVP), surpassing her teammate Rachael Nanyonga and Prisons’ Christine Namulumba.
Expressing her joy at the award ceremony held at Lazio Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala, Namulema said, “I am happy for this award. It took determination and teamwork to win the championship in Tanzania.”
Namulema played a pivotal role in all eight of NIC’s matches in the round-robin format, contributing significantly to their 22nd championship title.
Other awardees included Daniel Malcom Okello from Platinum Credit Heathens for rugby and Shadia Nabirye from Kawempe Muslim Women Football Club for football. Each winner received a plaque and a cash prize of UGX 500,000.
The awards, organized by the Real Stars Sports Agency since 2018, were presented by Executive Director Isaac Mukasa, alongside representatives from sponsors Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions.
