The Imara Brave Girls Tournament, organized by Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) and Planned Parenthood Global (PPG), united over 1,000 participants. Young girls, women, parents, feminist CSOs, and partners celebrated brave sports figures and championed Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) issues.
Held at the International University of East Africa, the tournament featured 16 school football teams. Notable teams included Alliance High School, Church of God High School, and Exodus College School. The event was vibrant and featured a surprise performance by Miss Uganda’s team, who competed against RAHU, showcasing the hidden talents of girls in sports.
Humphrey Nabimanya, founder of Reach A Hand Uganda, emphasized empowering girls and women to become future leaders and break societal barriers. He highlighted PPG Global’s “This Is Brave” campaign and the Billion Campaign, aiming to create an empowering society for all.
Part of the Imara Girls Festival 2024, the tournament took place on June 5th, 2024. The festival, themed “Addressing Empowerment Barriers through Amplified Youth Voices!” celebrated the contributions of women and girls to health and development.
The ‘Billi Now Now!’ Youth Summit, from June 4th to 6th, gathered youth from PPG countries to discuss SRHR and social justice issues.

After the championship, revelers, including international delegates, celebrated at MOTIV. The after-party provided a final opportunity for delegates to share ideas and enjoy each other’s company until dawn.
