  • Daniel Kayma, the head teacher of Napak Seed School, acknowledged the gravity of the power crisis, stating its widespread effects on the school’s operations.

Napak Seed Secondary School is facing significant challenges due to the absence of electricity. This lack of power is hindering various aspects of the students’ education, including their ability to attend study sessions and ICT classes. Moreover, it exposes them to security risks on campus.

Zachary Kodet, a student at Napak Seed School, highlighted the difficulties they face, mentioning instances where they have to resort to using torches for studying during prep time. This situation has detrimental effects on their academic performance, as darkness and inadequate lighting create an unsafe learning environment.

Kodet appealed to the government and philanthropic individuals to provide support in the form of a solar power system for the school.

Walter Iriama, another student, echoed similar concerns, emphasizing the adverse impact of the electricity shortage on their educational endeavors. He mentioned the reliance on a single laptop for ICT lessons, which falls short of providing adequate learning resources.

Iriama expressed apprehension about their academic prospects if these issues are not promptly addressed.

Daniel Kayma, the head teacher of Napak Seed School, acknowledged the gravity of the power crisis, stating its widespread effects on the school’s operations. Despite procuring a solar system that powers only limited areas of the school, such as the administration block and one classroom, the situation remains dire.

Kayma highlighted the government’s provision of computers to the school, which currently remain unused due to the lack of power. Additionally, he raised concerns about the insufficient accommodation for both students and teachers. As a result, classrooms have been repurposed as makeshift dormitories, and teachers face challenges in finding suitable living arrangements nearby. This accommodation shortage jeopardizes the school’s ability to admit new students and hampers the teachers’ effectiveness in delivering quality education.
