Ambassador Pushes for National Expansion of Taekwondo in Uganda

Korea’s Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Park Sung Soo, envisions Taekwondo spreading beyond the military to the entire nation.

At the annual Taekwondo Ambassador’s Cup in Lugogo, Kampala, H.E. Park praised Taekwondo Master Kim, who trains 13 UPDF soldiers to be instructors.

He also lauded the Uganda Taekwondo Federation (UTF) for promoting the sport in Uganda.

Ambassador Park acknowledged the dedication of coaches and players, expressing gratitude for their contributions.

The Taekwondo Ambassador’s Cup, launched in 2017, showcases the growing passion for Taekwondo in Uganda and neighboring countries.

Ambassador Park believes this sport strengthens ties between Ugandans and Koreans, fostering unity and cultural exchange.

He is hopeful that Taekwondo will extend from military forces to the entire Ugandan population.

The Korean Embassy also hosted the K-Pop festival at Makerere University, featuring dance, music, and a Korean speaking competition.
