  • Kompany, a former four-time Premier League winner with Manchester City, assumed the managerial role at Burnley in June 2022, marking his managerial debut in England following his stint with Anderlecht.

Bayern Munich is currently engaged in advanced negotiations with Burnley regarding the unexpected potential appointment of Vincent Kompany as their newest coach.

The Bundesliga outfit is under the impression that Kompany is keen to join their ranks, and both clubs are working towards reaching an agreement on compensation.

Reports suggest that Kompany, aged 38, would bring along his support staff from Burnley to Munich, including former Wales international Craig Bellamy.

Bayern has encountered difficulties in finding a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, who officially departed last week after his initial announcement back in February.

Despite efforts to convince Tuchel to remain, discussions failed to yield a positive outcome, leaving Bayern in a quandary.

Kompany has cultivated a respectable reputation during his tenures at Anderlecht and Burnley, although Burnley’s relegation, following lofty pre-season expectations, has somewhat tarnished his image.

Having played in the Bundesliga for Hamburg, Kompany is conversant in German.

Companys’ contract

Although Kompany extended his contract with Burnley until 2028 last year, he opted not to address questions regarding his future following Sunday’s defeat against Nottingham Forest.

Kompany, a former four-time Premier League winner with Manchester City, assumed the managerial role at Burnley in June 2022, marking his managerial debut in England following his stint with Anderlecht.

Meanwhile, Burnley minority shareholder and ex-NFL player JJ Watt posted a cryptic message on Wednesday night, hinting at potential changes within the club.

Shifting to analysis, Kompany, who has previously expressed his commitment to the Burnley project, signed a contract extension just last May, binding him to the club until 2028. However, the allure of joining Bayern Munich—a renowned club globally—appears to have proven irresistible.

Despite Burnley’s relegation, Bayern seems undeterred, viewing Kompany as a suitable candidate for a possession-based style of play.

If the deal materializes, Kompany will be tasked with reclaiming the Bundesliga title from Bayer Leverkusen and aiming to secure silverware for English internationals Harry Kane and Eric Dier.

As for Burnley, attention will now shift to identifying a successor, with Steve Cooper and David Moyes among the potential candidates, while Mark Robins of Coventry has previously been linked with the club.
