Two major rivalries in America, Joe Biden versus Donald Trump and Kendrick Lamar versus Drake, intersected when the Biden-Harris campaign utilized one of Lamar’s diss tracks in a video to criticize the former president’s Republican opponent.
On Instagram, the Biden campaign shared a new video featuring Lamar’s song “Euphoria,” with modified lyrics originally targeting Drake now directed at the former president.
The video opens with a picture of Mr. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris smiling, overlaying lyrics that state: “It’s always been about love and hate, now let me say I’m the biggest hater.”
A picture of Mr. Trump sporting a red MAGA-emblazoned cap quickly appears, accompanied by modified lyrics that read: “I hate the way that you walk over women’s rights.”
The following line, paired with an absurd picture of Mr. Trump addressing an event, states: “The way that you talk about immigrants.”
Next, a serious-looking former president in a tuxedo appears, accompanied by the lyrics: “I hate the way that you dress.”
The scene transitions to Mr. Trump typing on his phone, juxtaposed with the words: “I hate the way that you sneak diss on truth social.”
This diss track emerges amid escalating tensions between the current and former president in anticipation of the November presidential election.
Over the past four weeks, the former president has been undergoing a criminal trial in Manhattan. He faces 34 charges of falsifying business records linked to hush money payments made to Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election. These payments were allegedly made to secure her silence regarding an alleged 2006 affair with Mr. Trump.
The presumed Republican nominee has leveled accusations against the Biden administration, alleging, without evidence, that they orchestrated the hush money case, along with other state and federal cases, in an attempt to disrupt his 2024 campaign.
While the president has maintained a distance from the trial proceedings, he couldn’t resist poking fun at his rival’s legal troubles during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner on April 27th.
“Donald has had a few tough days lately. You might call it Stormy weather,” he quipped.
Meanwhile, the ongoing feud between the two rappers has escalated, with both releasing diss tracks targeting each other in recent days.
Lamar’s track accuses Drake of being a “pedophile” and of secretly having a daughter, while Drake retaliates by accusing Lamar of domestic violence against his fiancee.
Amidst the escalating tension, an unidentified security guard was injured in a drive-by shooting outside Drake’s Canadian mansion property on Tuesday morning.
