On Thursday, Head Coach Paul Put announced Uganda Cranes’ squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria.
The Cranes will play two home games next month.
These matches will be the national team’s first at Mandela National Stadium (Namboole) since 2019.
The squad includes four goalkeepers, nine defenders, six midfielders, and nine forwards.
Defender Elio Capradossi, who plays for Serie B side Calcio Lecco FC in Italy, is a new addition.
The 28-year-old, a product of Roma’s youth academy, captained Roma’s U19 team to the 2015–2016 Italian U19 Championship.
Capradossi has also played for Italy at various youth levels.
Uchechukwu Mubiru Ikpeazu has been called up again. The forward has often been summoned but failed to appear.
It remains uncertain whether Mubiru will join and play for Uganda Cranes this time.
Uganda, in Group G, will face Botswana on June 7 and Algeria on June 10, 2024.
