Coca-Cola Beverages Africa has harnessed the benefits of Africa’s fastest plastic bottle production line at its East Africa operations. This cutting-edge facility boasts a capacity of 67,000 bottles per hour and incorporates advanced technologies such as robotic arms and automated fillers. It is revolutionizing efficiency and catalyzing growth in Uganda’s beverages industry.

In 2022, Coca-Cola Beverages Uganda (CCBU), a subsidiary of Coca-Cola Beverages Africa, inaugurated a state-of-the-art production line at its headquarters in Namanve. This new polyethylene phthalate (PET) line represents a $27 million investment aimed at enhancing the availability and consistency of CCBU’s soft drink offerings.

As Uganda targets increasing the industrial sector’s contribution to GDP to 31% by 2040, up from the current 27.4%, CCBU’s initiative aligns with national goals. The company’s expansion not only fosters job creation—currently employing over 900 individuals—but also stimulates local businesses supplying raw materials and services.

Melkamu Abebe, General Manager of CCBU, underscores the broader impact: “Our commitment goes beyond operational excellence; it encompasses shared opportunities throughout the value chain. This includes boosting local manufacturing, reducing imports, and contributing increased tax revenues to the government.”

Abebe further emphasizes CCBU’s dedication to meeting rising consumer demand with top-tier products: “This investment underscores our ongoing commitment to innovate and deliver superior quality products to our customers across Uganda.”

This initiative not only underscores CCBU’s role in Uganda’s economic development but also its strategic positioning to meet evolving consumer needs in the region.
