Controversy Over Gravity Omutujju’s “Doozi” Video

Gravity Omutujju’s latest music video, “Doozi,” featuring Shakira Shakiraa, sparked controversy when he shared a snippet showing him in medical attire and using equipment in what critics called a sexualized manner. Medical professionals held a press conference urging him to remove the video, concerned it misrepresented their profession and could harm its reputation. They threatened to petition the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) for a ban unless changes were made.

In response, Gravity Omutujju dismissed the concerns, defending his creative choices and arguing that music videos often use drama and dance for artistic expression. He believed his video actually promoted interest in the medical field rather than demeaning it. Gravity expressed confidence that the UCC would not ban his song, citing other Ugandan music videos with similar themes that had not faced such scrutiny.

Despite the backlash from doctors, Gravity Omutujju maintained that “Doozi” contributes positively to music and public discourse, emphasizing the importance of artistic freedom in entertainment.
