On a Friday night, Johnnie Walker Uganda launched its inaugural ‘She Walks Sip Over’ event, dedicated to honoring women in the media industry at Next Media Park.

Hosted by Racheal Thondu Mugisha from Next Media, the event drew women across various media sectors, including radio, television, print, digital media, podcasts, and influencers. The evening focused on celebrating the resilience and achievements of these women, fostering discussions on the importance of impact and self-care.

Thondu Mugisha, serving as the keynote speaker, underscored the pivotal role of women in media in shaping communities and driving societal change. She emphasized using media platforms to nurture positive transformations in society.

“Even as we celebrate our power as women in media, the question remains: how are we using these platforms to nurture our communities and create the change we desire for society at large?” Thondu Mugisha remarked.

The event also highlighted the significance of resilience and self-care amidst the demands of media roles. Thondu Mugisha encouraged attendees to prioritize self-care, stressing the importance of mental well-being in their professional journeys.

The gathering focused on discussions about resilience, the importance of impact, and self-care.

“As we do this important work, it’s essential to take care of ourselves. We need to speak positive words to ourselves, especially in these times when mental health issues are real,” she added.

Thondu Mugisha shared personal insights into her upbringing and acknowledged the support of her parents, particularly her father, in fostering her career growth and ambitions.

The evening was an intimate celebration of resilient women in media.
