Film producer and director Kevin Johns Nabukenya raised this concern after noticing the absence of Ugandan films during her recent trip with the airline. Kevin Johns took to her Facebook account to express her observation and called upon the Uganda Communications Commission to address the issue. She believes that Uganda has a wealth of films that could be showcased on the national carrier’s flights. When asked about efforts to collaborate with Uganda Airlines, Kevin Johns revealed that although she personally hasn’t reached out, she knows of two producers who have expressed interest. However, they were informed that the airline currently lacks the budget for such endeavors.
To address this discrepancy, filmmakers are planning to meet with the CEO of Uganda Airlines, with renowned filmmaker Omumbejja Mariam Ndagire representing their interests. They hope to receive a positive response and potentially negotiate terms for featuring Ugandan films on the airline’s inflight entertainment.
