In an electrifying National Basketball League match at the YMCA Court in Wandegeya, Kampala Rockets’ wing Luak Ruai delivered a standout performance, recording a triple-double to lead his team to a narrow 59-56 victory over the JT Jaguars.
Ruai’s impressive stat line included 15 points, 11 rebounds, and 11 assists, marking the first triple-double in the men’s division this season. His all-around effort was crucial in securing the win and helping the Rockets continue their fight to stay in the top tier.
Teammates Simon Ola and Pauti Ozias Kikomba added significant support, scoring 19 and 15 points respectively, to bolster the Rockets’ efforts against a determined JT Jaguars squad. On the Jaguars’ side, Aaron John Eboyu, Ian Lubwama, and George Agassi put up a strong fight, contributing 16, 15, and 14 points respectively.
The Rockets set the pace early, ending the first quarter with a commanding 17-9 lead. Despite a strong second quarter from JT Jaguars, highlighted by Eboyu’s floating jump shot, they still trailed 28-22 at halftime.
JT Jaguars emerged from the break with renewed vigor, overtaking the Rockets to lead 42-40 by the end of the third quarter. However, the Rockets maintained their composure, managing to edge out the Jaguars with a two-point victory by the final buzzer.
