President Yoweri Museveni has dismissed the UK’s allegations against any Ugandan as unfounded and has delegated the task of investigating the matter to Minister of Foreign Affairs Gen Jeje Odongo and Attorney-General Kiryowa Kiwanuka. This decision follows a report by the British High Commissioner accusing Parliament’s Speaker Anita Among of owning undisclosed properties in London. The UK has imposed sanctions on Among and two other ministers, alleging their involvement in corruption.
Deputy Inspector General of Government Dr. Patricia Achan Akiria wrote to the President on May 9, stating that, according to her findings, Among does not possess any property in the UK. Despite this, the Speaker vehemently denies owning any assets in the UK, humorously asserting that she doesn’t even have ‘a pussy cat’ there.
