The Karibu Kilifair 2024 kicked off its three-day tourism extravaganza in Arusha, a renowned tourist hub in northern Tanzania, on Friday. Featuring approximately 600 exhibitors hailing from key tourist markets across Africa, the United States, Europe, and other significant global tourist destinations.
This premier tourism event in Tanzania, dubbed as “Karibu Kilifair 2024,” coincides with the onset of the high tourism season in East Africa, which typically spans from May to October.
Karibu Kilifair serves as a pivotal platform for spotlighting and promoting Tanzania’s rich offerings, particularly its abundant wildlife, cultural heritage, and natural wonders, not only within East Africa but extending to Central Africa and beyond.
Fostering Collaboration for Tourism Growth in Tanzania and Uganda
The event has been meticulously tailored to serve as a networking hub for stakeholders in the tourism industry, urging Tanzanians and East African residents to attend with their families to explore the exhibition pavilions and gain insights into various tourist destinations across the region.
Over the past eight years, Kilifair has evolved into a prominent tourism fixture in East Africa, providing unparalleled opportunities for networking and forging new partnerships within Tanzania’s thriving tourism sector and the broader East African region.
Expecting an attendance of around 8,000 individuals, including exhibitors and day visitors, the event has organized numerous workshops featuring experts from diverse backgrounds to facilitate the exchange of valuable insights on destination packaging, visitor services, and tourism development across Africa. Additionally, a special seminar on Travel Technology will be conducted.
Simultaneously, the eighth edition of the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE 2024) unfolded in Kampala from May 23 to 25, attracting over 5,000 participants from the tourism trade and 70 buyers.
The expo successfully drew participants not only from Uganda but also from various East African countries, alongside a substantial number of trade visitors from Europe, the United States, and other African regions.
Mr. Cuthbert Ncube, Chairman of the African Tourism Board (ATB), graced the POATE 2024 event, emphasizing the critical need for collaboration between public and private entities to nurture the growth of the tourism sector and bolster Africa’s reputation as a premier tourist destination.
