The race for the Kigulu North parliamentary seat is expected to be a close contest between former Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) mobilizer Ismail Badogi and State Minister for Agriculture Fred Bwino Kyakulaga.
Badogi, who previously ran for the Kigulu North seat on an FDC ticket, has since joined the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.

He was welcomed into the NRM by the party’s vice-chairperson for the eastern region, Mike Mukula, amidst cheers from party supporters.
Badogi currently works in the Office of the Speaker of Parliament.
