Erling Haaland scored twice in the second half, moving City two points clear at the top of the table and putting the title in their hands heading into the final day of the season. Despite a lackluster first half, where both sides were saved by their goalkeepers, City ultimately secured a comfortable win.

Haaland’s double brought Manchester City close to an unprecedented fourth straight Premier League title. After a goalless first half at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, where Rodrigo Bentancur and Phil Foden were both denied by superb goalkeeping, City came alive in the second half. Kevin De Bruyne’s strike was brilliantly saved by Giuglielmo Vicario early in the second half, but four minutes later, De Bruyne assisted Haaland for the opening goal.

Tottenham had a late chance to equalize when Son Heung-Min’s shot was blocked by substitute goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. City sealed the win in stoppage time with Haaland confidently converting a penalty after Pedro Porro fouled Jeremy Doku.

The win ended City’s four-game losing streak at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and marked their first goal there in 79 attempts. With eight consecutive victories, City also set a club record of four straight away clean sheets in the league.

For Tottenham, the defeat ended their hopes of qualifying for next season’s Champions League, while Arsenal’s slip to second place means the title race will go to the final day.

Talking Point – City on the Verge of History

Manchester City is now poised to make history with a fourth straight Premier League title, having broken their Tottenham Hotspur Stadium curse. Haaland’s goals were pivotal, and Ortega’s late save from Son ensured the victory. City have a clear path to the title, and Guardiola’s team is looking unstoppable as they aim for even greater achievements.

Player of the Match – Erling Haaland (Manchester City)

While Stefan Ortega’s contributions were crucial, Erling Haaland was the standout performer, scoring both goals to secure the win for City. His season tally is now 27, making him the first City player to score multiple goals away against Spurs in the Premier League since Edin Dzeko.
