Ugandan Lecturer Found Dead: Blunt Force Tragedy Unfolds in Jinja Town

What you need to know:

  • Nima’s presence in Jinja was to oversee Nyiro Hanington, a student conducting an internship in the town.
  • His naked body was discovered in his room, a stark contrast to a prior phone call where he informed his brother, Phinehas Kidiba, of his fatigue and intention to stay in Jinja, foregoing his return home.

Sosipateri Nima, a lecturer hailing from Uganda Technical Institute, Elgon branch, was tragically discovered deceased at Saver’s Guesthouse in Jinja town on August 2nd. His body, unclothed, bore signs of blunt force trauma, according to a postmortem examination conducted at Jinja Regional Referral Hospital.

The report revealed internal injuries, including fractures to the 3rd and 4th ribs on the right side and contusions to both lungs. Detective Corporal David Makoba, from Jinja Central Police Station, witnessed the postmortem. A murder case under CRB 253/2018 has been initiated at Jinja CPS.

Although external injuries were absent, suspicions of foul play arose. A confidential source familiar with the investigation suggested that Nima may have been assaulted, with blows to the lower abdomen and upper chest proving fatal.

Diana Nandawula, the Kiira region police spokesperson, refrained from confirming the attack, citing ongoing inquiries. She noted that detectives are diligently pursuing leads, intending to present the case to the resident state attorney for legal counsel.
