Father Henry Kasule, the clergyman overseeing Kyanukuzi parish in Lwengo District, Uganda, has strongly condemned politicians for forsaking their supporters in favor of meager bribes. Addressing attendees during Pascal Ssekasamba’s funeral in Masaka on May 18, 2024, Fr Kasule conveyed his disillusionment and exasperation with the politicians’ lack of honesty.
“Many individuals undergo a transformation. Politicians have greatly disappointed the majority of us. Their reliability is sorely lacking. They easily alter their stance for trivial sums, disregarding the welfare of their followers. It’s a matter of shame. What values do you truly hold?” admonished Fr Kasule.
Among the attendees at the ceremony were several notable politicians, including Bobi Wine, Mathias Mpuuga, and Abed Bwanika, who came to pay their respects.
Fr Kasule’s comments have initiated a discourse on the necessity of accountability and integrity within the political sphere. His critique of politicians who prioritize personal gain at the expense of their constituents resonates with many Ugandans who feel disillusioned by their leaders.
