Wakiso Hill WFC and She Corporate FC finished the first leg of the FUFA Women’s Cup semi-final in a deadlock at Kitende. Both teams aimed to secure an early advantage, resulting in a fiercely contested and physical match.
She Corporate suffered significant setbacks as captain Margret Namirimu and goalkeeper Hadijah Nalongo were stretchered off in the first and second halves, respectively.
Wakiso Hill’s captain Zaitun Namaganda tested Nalongo with an early shot, which the goalkeeper saved. In the 19th minute, Nalongo also made a brilliant save on a 30-yard free kick from Fatumah Nakasumba.
Namirimu was injured in a collision with Namaganda just before halftime and was replaced by Stella Musibika. In the second half, Nalongo collided with Wakiso Hill left-back Faridah Namirimu and was substituted by Molly Naava.
She Corporate nearly capitalized on a late miscommunication between Wakiso Hill defender Teddy Namata and goalkeeper Nulu Babirye, but Namata’s header hit the side netting.
The match saw Vipers SC president Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa in attendance during the second half.
The teams will meet again for the second leg at the MUBS Arena in Nakawa on Wednesday, June 19th. The other semi-final between Rines SS and UCU Lady Cardinals is also tied 1-1, with the second leg scheduled for Sunday at Kabaka Kyabaggu.
