Zendaya holds her three older sisters, Katianna, Annabella, and Kaylee, along with her two older brothers, Austin and Julien, in high regard. Raised in Oakland, Calif., by her parents Claire Stoermer and Kazembe Ajamu Coleman, Zendaya is the only child Claire and Kazembe share, while Kazembe has five older children from a previous relationship.

Zendaya has a close relationship with her nieces and nephews

While Zendaya’s siblings maintain a low profile, she openly discusses her close relationship with her nieces and nephews. Particularly, Zendaya shares a special bond with her niece, Ezenia “Zink,” whose father is Julien. The duo showcased their closeness in a playful game of “Besties Word Association” during a 2014 Teen Vogue video, while getting matching manicures. In an interview with Complex, Zendaya referred to her niece as the person closest to her, often spending time at her sister’s house in LA. She also brought her younger nephews as her dates to the premiere of Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, and one of her nieces joined her at the 2017 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards.

Katianna, fondly known as “Kizzi,” is a mother of three daughters. During Zendaya’s Disney days, she frequently babysat Kizzi’s daughters. In March 2017, Zendaya treated Kizzi and her nieces to a memorable birthday trip to Universal Studios, expressing her gratitude on Instagram for providing her niece with an unforgettable Harry Potter-themed birthday despite her being unable to attend due to illness.

When addressing the topic of dealing with bullies and social media, Zendaya prioritizes setting an example for her nieces and nephews. “Honestly, my primary concern is for my little nieces and nephews,” she shared with Complex in 2015. “Because one day, they’ll be on Twitter and Instagram, and I’ll be there to guide them on how to navigate it.”
